Terms of Use
These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of Frugal Hog at https://frugalhog.com (the Site). They are effective as of October 6, 2026. Frugal Hog is a standalone informational blog about spending less and saving more. The Site owner has not published a legal entity name, individual name or postal address, so in these Terms the words we, us and our refer to the people and entities that own, operate, edit, write for, host or otherwise contribute to the Site. Please read these Terms together with our Disclosure and our Privacy Policy.
Acceptance of These Terms and Related Policies
By accessing or using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site. The Site has no accounts, so there is no sign-up step; your continued use of the Site is how you indicate that you accept these Terms. These Terms work alongside two other pages that form part of the overall framework for using the Site. The Disclosure explains our commercial relationships, editorial approach and the limits of our research. The Privacy Policy explains what information the Site and its providers handle. If there is a conflict between these Terms and a more specific statement in one of those pages about its own subject, the more specific statement controls for that subject. If you are using the Site on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you have authority to accept these Terms for it. If you are under the age of majority where you live, please use the Site with the involvement of a parent or guardian. The Site is a general-audience site for adults and is not directed at children under 13.
What This Site Is and How It Is Provided
Frugal Hog publishes written guides and articles that explain everyday money topics, such as ways to lower bills, avoid unnecessary fees, understand programs and offers, and make household budgets go further. The content is research-based and informational. It draws on published guidance, provider and program documentation and other public information. The Site is a static website built with Astro and published through the MTC publishing service on Cloudflare. The Site does not offer user accounts, comments, a newsletter, a store, a calculator that stores your data, or any feature that lets readers publish content. The only interactive feature is the contact form described below. The Site is provided on an as-available basis for general educational use. We may add, change, suspend or remove content, features or the entire Site at any time and without notice. We do not promise that the Site will be available without interruption, that pages will load in any particular way, or that any article will remain published, updated or free of errors. We are not obligated to maintain, correct or update the Site, although we may try to do so.
Permitted Use and Prohibited Conduct
You may browse the Site and read its content for your own personal, lawful purposes. You agree not to misuse the Site or interfere with it or with other people’s use of it. Without limiting that general rule, you agree not to do any of the following.
- Use the Site in violation of any applicable law or regulation.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site, its source repository, its hosting or publishing accounts, its domain settings, its email routing or any related system.
- Introduce malware, scripts or other harmful code, or probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the Site without our written permission.
- Overload, disrupt or degrade the Site, including through denial-of-service attacks, abusive automated requests or aggressive scraping.
- Use bots, crawlers or other automated tools in a way that ignores reasonable technical limits or imposes an unreasonable load on the Site.
- Bypass, tamper with or attempt to defeat the Cloudflare Turnstile challenge or other security measures protecting the contact form, or submit the form through automated means.
- Impersonate us, our editorial persona or any other person, or falsely suggest that we endorse you, your business or your products.
- Copy the Site in a way that misleads others about its source, or present our content as your own.
- Send us unlawful, threatening, harassing, fraudulent or deceptive communications, or use the contact form or email address to send spam, malicious attachments or unsolicited commercial offers.
- Use the Site’s content as a substitute for your own judgment in matters where an error could cause significant harm.
We may investigate suspected misuse and may cooperate with law enforcement or with our service providers where we believe it is appropriate.
Intellectual Property, Reuse and Infringement Notices
The text, design, layout, graphics and other original material on the Site are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws, except where a third party’s ownership is indicated. The Frugal Hog name, the site design and any logos are ours or are used with permission, and you may not use them in a way that suggests affiliation or endorsement without our written permission. The portrait of our editorial persona is an illustration and is part of the Site’s protected material. Third-party names, trademarks, logos and product or program descriptions that appear on the Site belong to their respective owners and are used to identify them.
Permitted reuse is limited. You may read the Site, print or save individual pages for personal non-commercial use, and share links to our pages. You may quote short excerpts for commentary, criticism, news reporting, teaching or similar purposes, provided that you give clear attribution to Frugal Hog and include a link to the original page. Any reuse that goes beyond those purposes, including republishing whole articles, bulk copying, building a competing dataset or commercial reuse, requires our prior written permission. Nothing in these Terms limits any use that applicable law, such as fair use, allows regardless of contrary terms.
If you believe that material on the Site infringes your copyright or other intellectual property rights, please contact us through the contact form or at hello@frugalhog.com with the following information.
- A description of the work you claim has been infringed and, if possible, where we can see it.
- The specific page address on the Site where the material appears.
- Your name and contact details.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the owner, its agent or the law.
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or are authorized to act for the owner.
We have not confirmed that a designated copyright agent is registered with the U.S. Copyright Office for the Site, and we do not claim any statutory safe harbor on that basis. Because delivery of messages has not yet been confirmed by a live test, please see the Contact and Current Availability section before relying on the form or email alone for time-sensitive notices. We may remove or disable access to material in response to a credible notice, and we may decline to act on notices that are incomplete or appear to be abusive.
Contact Form, Email and the Absence of Public User Content
The Site does not provide public user-content features. There are no accounts, comments, reviews, forums, uploads or newsletter sign-ups. You cannot publish content on the Site, and we do not host content created by readers.
The Site does have a contact form on its Contact page, and it also has a public email address, hello@frugalhog.com. You can use either to ask a question about a guide, suggest a topic or a product to research, or report an error or an outdated detail. The contact form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, and the submission is verified on the server side. Messages from the form and email sent to the address are forwarded through Cloudflare to the operator’s private inbox. These messages are private communications to us and are not displayed publicly.
If you send us a message, you are responsible for what you send and you confirm that you have the right to send it. By sending us a suggestion, correction or idea, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual license to use it, adapt it and incorporate it into the Site or our work without compensation or attribution, to the extent permitted by law. We do not promise to respond to, act on, credit or keep confidential any message, and a suggestion is not a promise that we will cover the topic. Please do not send sensitive information such as Social Security numbers, account numbers, passwords, medical records or tax documents. Our handling of messages is described in the Privacy Policy.
If public submission features are introduced in the future, we may add terms covering them before they go live.
Disclaimer of Warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Site and everything on it are provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory. This includes, to the extent permitted, implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, accuracy, completeness, non-infringement and uninterrupted or error-free operation. We do not warrant that any information on the Site is accurate, complete, current or suitable for your situation. We do not warrant that any price, rate, fee, discount, program rule, eligibility requirement, savings estimate or link is correct or will remain valid. We do not warrant that the Site or the servers and services that deliver it are free of viruses or other harmful components, or that the Site will be secure. We do not warrant that the contact form or the email address will work, that a message will be delivered or read, or that we will respond. Any result described on the Site, including an amount saved, is an illustration or a general possibility and not a promise that you will achieve it.
Some places do not allow certain warranties to be excluded or limited. In those places, the disclaimers above apply only to the extent the law allows, and any warranty that cannot lawfully be excluded is limited to the shortest duration and narrowest scope the law permits. Nothing in these Terms removes any right you have under mandatory consumer protection law that cannot be waived.
No Professional Advice and Topic-Specific Risks
The content on the Site is general information for educational purposes. It is not personalized financial, investment, tax, legal, accounting, credit, insurance, benefits, medical-billing, medical or other professional advice, and reading it does not create any advisory, fiduciary, attorney-client or other professional relationship with us. The editorial persona who appears as the author is fictional, and the portrait is an illustration. The persona holds no financial, legal or other professional credentials, and the Site does not claim that its content is based on personal hands-on testing of products or services. Before you act on any content, consider your own circumstances and consult a qualified professional, such as a licensed financial planner, tax preparer, attorney, housing or credit counselor, insurance agent, electrician, mechanic or physician, where appropriate.
Several subjects on the Site carry particular risks, and you are responsible for how you use the information.
- Money and savings figures. Rates, fees, prices, offers and eligibility rules for assistance programs vary by person, provider, state and date, and they change over time. A figure that was accurate when written may be wrong when you read it, so confirm details with the provider or program before you rely on them.
- Debt and credit. Decisions about debt repayment, credit scores, balance transfers, consolidation, settlement and similar topics carry financial risk, can involve fees and can affect your credit and your legal position. Speak with a qualified professional or a reputable nonprofit credit counselor before making such decisions.
- Taxes and benefits. Tax rules and benefit rules depend on your facts and on laws that change. A general description is not tax or legal advice.
- Household chemicals and cleaners. Mixing household chemicals can release harmful or toxic fumes and can cause injury. Never combine products such as bleach with ammonia or acids, follow the manufacturer’s labels and safety data, keep products away from children and pets, ventilate the area and seek emergency help if someone is exposed.
- Food storage and freezer meals. Food-safety practices such as safe temperatures, cooling, storage times, thawing and reheating matter, and mistakes can cause illness. Follow guidance from qualified food-safety authorities and do not eat food you suspect is unsafe.
- Electrical, home and car work. Do-it-yourself projects, including electrical work, appliance repair, home maintenance and vehicle maintenance, can cause fire, electric shock, serious injury, death, property damage, voided warranties and code violations. Follow manufacturer instructions and local requirements, obtain permits where needed and hire a licensed professional if you are not qualified.
- Apps and third-party services. Cash-back, coupon, budgeting and other money-saving apps and services have their own terms, fees, data practices and risks, which we do not control.
- Scams. People who look for deals, freebies or hardship help are frequent targets of scams. Be cautious about unsolicited offers, requests for payment or personal information and anyone who promises guaranteed results. We will never ask you for payment through the contact form or email.
In an emergency, contact emergency services immediately and do not rely on the Site or on a message to us.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we, our owners, operators, members, officers, employees, editors, writers, contributors, licensors, contractors, hosting and publishing providers and their respective successors and assigns (together, the Site Parties) will not be liable for any loss or damage arising out of or connected with the Site or your use of or inability to use it. This applies to any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, and to any loss of money, savings, profits, revenue, opportunity, data, goodwill or credit standing, any cost of substitute goods or services, and any personal injury, illness or property damage, however caused and under any legal theory, including contract, tort, negligence and strict liability, even if we were told such loss was possible. This includes loss or damage caused by reliance on information on the Site, errors or omissions, outdated information, third-party websites, products, apps or services, unavailability of the Site, failure or delay of the contact form or email, security incidents, or the actions of other people.
We have not set a fixed monetary cap on liability in these Terms. Where the law does not allow the complete exclusion of a type of liability, the Site Parties’ liability for it is limited to the smallest extent the law allows.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law. This may include liability for fraud, for willful misconduct, for gross negligence in some places, for death or personal injury caused by negligence in some places, or any other liability that applicable law does not allow to be waived in advance. Some places do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above may not apply to you. If you are a consumer, you may have rights under mandatory law that these Terms do not affect. These Terms do not claim that the Site Parties can never be held liable, and they do not promise that any particular claim will fail.
Indemnification
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless the Site Parties from and against claims, demands, losses, liabilities, damages, costs and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of or related to the following.
- Your breach of these Terms.
- Your misuse of the Site or interference with it, including any unlawful or abusive conduct.
- Messages or other communications that you send to us and that infringe or violate another person’s rights or any law.
- Claims by third parties that arise from your violation of law or of third-party rights in connection with the Site.
This obligation does not apply to the extent that a claim results from the Site Parties’ own wrongdoing that the law does not allow you to indemnify. We may, at our own expense, take over the defense of a matter, and you agree to cooperate reasonably. Some places limit or do not allow indemnification obligations, particularly for consumers, so this section applies only to the extent the law permits.
Third-Party Links, Content, Products and Services
Articles on the Site may link to external sources, official program pages, retailers, providers, apps and other websites. We include links for convenience and reference, and a link is not an endorsement, a guarantee or a statement that we are affiliated with the third party. We do not own or control third-party websites, content, products, services or apps, and we are not responsible for their availability, accuracy, legality, safety, pricing, terms, security or privacy practices. Third parties may change or remove their pages, offers and policies at any time, and links may break or lead to different content than when we published them. If you buy from, sign up with, download from or share information with a third party, you do so under that third party’s own terms and privacy policy and at your own risk. Any dispute with a third party, including a seller, provider, app or program administrator, is between you and that third party. Warranties, returns, refunds, delivery, billing, cancellation and customer service for any product or service are the responsibility of the seller or provider. Some features of the Site rely on services from Cloudflare and other infrastructure providers, which have their own terms and practices that we do not control. Please review the terms and privacy practices of any external site that you visit, and be careful about scams that imitate legitimate providers or programs. The Privacy Policy explains that external sites have their own privacy practices.
Affiliate and Commercial Relationships
As of the effective date, the Site has no affiliate programs and no affiliate links, no advertising, no sponsorships, and no free products or other compensation from companies that are featured on it. We have not confirmed enrollment in any retailer affiliate program, including Amazon Associates. If we later begin earning compensation from links, ads, sponsorships or other arrangements, we intend to update the Disclosure and to disclose the relationship clearly near the affected content, as explained there. The commercial status described in the Disclosure is a statement of the current configuration and is not a promise that it will never change. Prices, offers and availability for any product or service are controlled by the seller or provider and not by us.
Privacy
Your use of the Site is also subject to our Privacy Policy, which describes how information is handled in connection with the Site and with messages you send us. In brief, the Site does not set cookies of its own, does not use accounts, analytics or advertising as currently configured, and stores your light or dark theme choice in your browser’s local storage on your device. The contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, and Cloudflare and its security features may set or read their own cookies or similar storage. Messages sent through the form or by email are forwarded through Cloudflare to the operator’s private inbox. Our hosting and infrastructure providers, such as Cloudflare, may process technical data as part of delivering and securing the Site. The Privacy Policy is not a contract that creates any additional promises beyond what it says, and it should be read in the context of these Terms, including the disclaimers and limitations in them.
Restriction or Termination of Access
We may, at our discretion and without notice, restrict, suspend or terminate your access to all or part of the Site if we believe you have violated these Terms, put the Site or others at risk, or acted unlawfully, or for operational, legal or security reasons. Because the Site has no accounts, this may take the form of blocking an IP address or range, rate-limiting requests, applying security rules through our infrastructure providers, disabling or changing the contact form, or ignoring or blocking messages from a sender. We may also discontinue the Site or any of its content or features permanently. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will do so, including those on intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, third-party matters and the general provisions. You may stop using the Site at any time.
Governing Law and Jurisdiction
The owner has not supplied a choice of governing law, court or venue, and these Terms do not designate one. We have deliberately not named a state, country or court because doing so would require facts that we do not have. Any dispute is therefore subject to whatever law and forum are determined to apply under applicable rules. Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory rights that you have under the law of the place where you live, including consumer protection rights and your right to bring a claim in the courts that the law gives you. We may update this section if a governing law and venue are later chosen, subject to the section on changes to these Terms.
Dispute Resolution
These Terms do not require arbitration, do not waive your right to participate in a class or representative action where the law gives you that right, and do not set up a mandatory dispute procedure. We encourage you to contact us first with a description of your concern so that we can try to resolve it informally. Because message delivery has not yet been confirmed by a live test, an informal contact attempt is a courtesy and not a condition to your rights. If informal contact does not resolve the matter, you may pursue whatever remedies the law gives you. If an applicable law imposes a notice or time requirement before a claim, that law controls.
Severability
If a court or other authority of competent jurisdiction finds any provision of these Terms to be invalid, illegal or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted and, if it cannot be, will be treated as modified to the minimum extent necessary or severed. The remaining provisions will stay in full force and effect. An unenforceable provision in one place does not make the provision unenforceable in another place where the law allows it.
No Waiver
Our failure or delay in enforcing any right or provision of these Terms is not a waiver of that right or provision. A waiver is effective only if it is in writing and signed or sent by us, and a waiver of one breach is not a waiver of any other breach. Our acceptance of an informal contact from you does not waive any right or defense that we have.
Entire Agreement and Mandatory Protections
These Terms, together with the Disclosure and the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Site and replace earlier understandings about it. No oral statement, contributor comment, or content of the Site changes these Terms unless we publish an updated version. This does not exclude any liability for fraudulent statements, and it does not override mandatory protections under applicable law, which continue to apply to you where they cannot be waived or varied by agreement. Headings are for convenience and do not affect interpretation.
Assignment
We may assign, transfer or delegate our rights and obligations under these Terms, in whole or in part, including in connection with a sale, transfer, merger, reorganization or other change in ownership or operation of the Site, or to a successor operator, without notice to you. You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our written consent, except where the law gives you a non-waivable right to do so. Any attempted assignment in breach of this section is void. These Terms bind and benefit the parties and their permitted successors and assigns.
Events Outside Our Reasonable Control
We are not responsible for any failure or delay in operating the Site or performing under these Terms that results from events outside our reasonable control. These include internet or telecommunications failures, outages or changes at hosting, publishing, domain, DNS, email routing or forwarding providers such as Cloudflare, cyberattacks, denial-of-service attacks, malware, power failures, natural disasters, fires, labor disputes, epidemics, government action, changes in law and acts of third parties. In these events, the Site, the contact form or email contact may be unavailable or delayed, and we will not be liable for the consequences to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes to the Site, our commercial relationships, our providers or the law. The date at the top of this page shows when it took effect. We will post the updated version on this page and will change the effective date. We do not have a mailing list or user accounts, so we do not send personal notices of changes, and the page itself is the notice. If the law requires a particular form of notice or a waiting period for a change, we will follow it. Continuing to use the Site after an update takes effect means that you accept the updated Terms to the extent the law permits. Please check this page periodically.
Contact and Current Availability
You can reach us through the contact form on the Contact page or by email at hello@frugalhog.com. The operator has not published a legal entity name, individual name or postal address, and we do not state one here. Contact provisioning, email routing and forwarding for hello@frugalhog.com were configured on October 6, 2026, and the configuration reports that it is ready. A real end-to-end delivery check has not yet been completed, so delivery has been set up but has not been confirmed by a live test. For that reason we cannot confirm that a particular message sent through the form or by email will be delivered or read. We do not promise any response time and we do not promise to respond to every message. If you need to reach a company, program or provider that is discussed in a guide, please contact it directly through its official channels, and do not rely on us to pass along a message. This section will be updated when delivery is confirmed.
